Free and Trendy Crochet Mushroom Bucket Hat Pattern

I am excited to present to you this new crochet mushroom bucket hat pattern. This bucket hat is so fun and will make a great addition to your hat collection! My daughter is 12 and she begged me to make this for her! Make one up in an hour or two and let me know what you think!

This hat will fit most adult sizes.

Materials

Acrylic Yarn -the main color I used here was red, and the edge and “mushroom” color was white.

Crochet Hook– Size 4.5 mm

Tapestry Needle

Stitch Markers, if you need them

Stitches to Know

Dc- Double Crochet

Sc- Single Crochet

Ch- Chain

Pattern

Begin with a magic circle. Dc 9 into the magic circle. If you don’t know how to do the magic circle, have no fear, you can chain 2 and then do 9 Dc in the second chain from the hook. At the end you will have 9 stitches. Pull the stitches shut to create a circle. Join to the first stitch. Chain 2.

Row 1: Dc 2 dc in each stitch around. At the end, join to the first stitch. There will be 18 stitches total. Chain 2.

Row 2: Place 2 dc in the first stitch. (This will begin to create a pattern. The two double crochets will fall in the same place on each row.) Dc in the next stitch. 2 dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around. At the end, you will have 27 stitches. Join to the first stitch. Chain 2.

Row 3: Place 2 dc in the first stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Place 2 dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around. At the end you will have 36 stitches. Join to the first stitch. Chain 2.

Row 4: Place 2 dc in the first stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Place 2 dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around. At the end you will have 45 stitches. Join to the first stitch. Chain 2.

Row 5: Place 2 dc in the first stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Place 2 dc in the first stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around. At the end, you will have 54 stitches. Join to the first stitch. Chain 2.

Rows 6-12: Dc in each stitch around. At the end of each round, join. Chain 2.

Row 13: This will be the edge of the hat. Dc 3 dc in each dc around. This will make a ruffle on your hat. At the end, chain 2.

Row 14: Dc in each stitch around. At the end, change to white or a color you want to use for the border. Ch 2.

Row 15: Dc in each stitch around. Join to the begining stitch. Finish off.

For the Spots

For the smaller spots:

Magic circle. Do 10 dc in the magic circle. Join to the beginning stitch. Finish off. You will make 4 of these if you want to match the example.

For the larger spot:

Magic circle. Dc 10 dc in the magic circle. Join to the begning stitch. Chain 2. Dc 2 dc in each stitch around. Join to the beginning. Finish off. You will make 4 of these.

Hot glue or sew the spots on with a yarn needle.
