Valentine’s Emoji Pillow- Free Crochet Pattern

Now that Christmas is over, it is time for us craft people to start looking forward to our next crochet adventure. I figured it would be fun to create a lovable emoji pillow for a friend, child or other family member in your life. I had fun making this and it is not hard at all. I hope you enjoy creating it.

Materials

Yellow Yarn, Red Yarn, Black Yarn– I used Red Heart Super Saver for my yarns. I love all the bright color choices that they have.

Crochet Hook H, Yarn Needle, Scissors, and Fiber Fill

Terms Used

sc- Single Crochet

dc- Double Crochet

ch- Chain

sl st- Slip Stitch

tr- Treble Crochet

Body Of Pillow (Make 2)

Row 1: Start with a Magic Circle. If you don’t know how to do a magic circle, you can ch 4 and work the stitches in the 4th chain . Work 10 dc into the magic circle or the 4th chain on hook. Join to first dc, ch 2.

Row 2: Work 2 dc in each stitch around. At the end you will have 20 double crochets. Join, chain 2.

Row 3: Work 2 dc in the first stitch 1 dc in the next stitch, around. At the end you will have 30 dc. Join chain 2

Row 4: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 40 dc. Join. Chain 2.

Row 5: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 50 dc. Join. Chain 2.

Row 6: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 60 stitches. Join. Chain 2.

Row 7: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 70 stitches. Join. Chain 2.

Row 8: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 80 stitches.
Join. Chain 2.

Row 9: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 90 stitches. Join. Chain 2.

Row 10: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 100 stitches. Join. Chain 2.

Row 11: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 100 stitches. Join. Chain 2.

Row 12: Work 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch, work this around. At the end, you will have 110 stitches. Join.

Finish off

Make 2 of these circles for the front and the back of the emoji.

Heart Eyes

With the red yarn you will make 2 hearts.

Row 1: Chain 4. Dc 5 in the 4th stitch from hook, ch 1, tr, ch 1, dc 5, ch 3, slip to the middle. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: 3 sc in first stitch, 2 sc in next, sc in each of next 3 stitches, ch 1 (skip the ch underneath) dc on the tr, ch 1 (skip the ch underneath), sc in each of the next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, chain 3, slip stitch into the middle. Chain 3, turn.

Row 3: 3 sc in first sc, 3 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next, sc in each of next 5 sc, ch 1 (skip the ch underneath), dc, ch 1 (skip the ch underneath), sc in eachof next 5 sc, 2 sc in next, 3 sc in next, 3 sc in next, ch 3, slip stitch into middle, Chain 3, turn.

Row 4: 3 sc in first sc, 3 sc in next, 3 sc in next, 2 sc in next, 2 sc in next, 2 sc in next, sc in each of the next 7 sc, ch 1 (skip the ch under), dc, ch 1 (skip the ch under), sc in each of the next 7 sc, 2 sc in next, 2 sc in next, 2 sc in next, 3 sc in next, 3 sc in next, 3 sc in next, ch 3, slip stitch into the middle.

End Off

Smile

With black Yarn:

Row 1: Chain 18. Starting in second ch from hook , sc in each of the first 3 ch, dc in each of the next 4 ch, tr in each of the next 3 ch, dc in each of the next 4 ch, sc in each of the last 3 sc. Chain 1, turn.

Row 2: In second stitch from hook sc in each of the first 3 stitches, dc in each of the next 4 stitches, tr in each of the next 3 stitches, dc in each of the next 4 stitches, sc in last 3 stitches. Chain 1, turn.

Row 3: In second stitch from hook, dc across. Slip stitch at the end and finish off.

Using a yarn needle, sew the eyes and mouth onto the pillow.

Stuff the pillow with the fiberfill.

Sew the pillow together. Make sure the edges line up properly. You may want to pin it together before you start.
