After I made my Crochet Puffy Hat With Flower, I realized it needed a scarf to go with it… Kind of like, “When you Give a Mouse a Cookie… Anyway, I went to buy another skein of Red Heart Stripes in Parrot, since I was almost out from the hat. I love, love the color combination of this yarn. The scarf is much easier than the hat, to me, so if you haven’t made either and are just starting out, it may be easier to start with the scarf and then move on to the matching hat. So… without further ado, here is the pattern:
For this pattern, you will need the following supplies:
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver Stripes– Parrot Stripe or other yarn you like, also Red Heart White for the Flower
Terms: sc= single crochet, dc= double crochet, Puff Stitch (see below)
Puff Stitch: The Puff Stitch will need to be worked as follows: yarn over, pull up a stitch, yarn over, pull up a stitch, yarn over, pull up a stitch. You will have 7 stitches on your hook. Then, you yarn over and pull through all stitches, leaving one stitch on the hook. Then chain after each puff stitch to lock the stitch in.
Row 1: Chain 16
Row 2: Puff Stitch in second chain from hook, skip next stitch, puff stitch in next stitch, skip next stitch… continue across until the end. Total of 8 puff stitches. Chain 2 and turn.
Row 3: Puff stitch between first two puff stitches. Puff stitch across between every puff stitch. At the end, puff stitch in the end (see photo). You will have 8 puff stitches again and on every row hereafter.
Row 4- 105: Repeat row 3. You can end the scarf when you have it the length that you like.
End off on your last desired row and tie off.
What do you think? This pattern is super easy. It just takes time to do all the rows. In the end you will have a beautiful matching hat and scarf set!
Let me know if you make this! I would love see photos!
